What does a Housekeeping Manager do?
A housekeeping manager oversees the cleanliness of the lobby, guest rooms, and any other public areas of a hospital or hotel. In this line of work, your responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising other housekeeping employees, giving them tasks to complete, and conducting performance reviews and evaluations. In addition to managing customer service concerns from visitors and creating departmental budgets, your duties as the housekeeping manager also involve keeping cleaning materials stocked. Usually, the general manager or the facilities supervisor is the person you report to.

General Housekeeping Manager Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Housekeeping Manager to join our resort in Ibeju Lekki. The General Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the housekeeping department, including guest rooms, public areas, and facilities. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

General Housekeeping Manager Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including the supervision of housekeeping staff, scheduling, and training.
• Develop and implement housekeeping policies, procedures, and standards to ensure cleanliness, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities to ensure cleanliness, proper maintenance, and adherence to brand standards.
• Coordinate with other departments, such as front desk and maintenance, to ensure smooth operations and prompt resolution of guest requests and issues.
• Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and other housekeeping materials, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost control.
• Implement and maintain health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of guests and staff, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Train and motivate housekeeping staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to housekeeping staff, recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance and addressing areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to source high-quality cleaning products and equipment at competitive prices. – Stay updated on industry trends, new cleaning techniques, and environmentally friendly practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.
• Handle guest feedback and complaints related to housekeeping services promptly and effectively, taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Monitor and analyze housekeeping expenses, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

General Housekeeping Manager Position Qualifications:
• BSc/HND in Hospitality Management or a related field. A certification in housekeeping management is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in housekeeping management, preferably within the resort or hotel industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a housekeeping department, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Excellent knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning techniques, and industry best practices. Exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with guests, staff, and stakeholders.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, cleaning standards, and environmental sustainability practices.
• Proficiency in housekeeping management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
